There are three forms of COMPOUND WORDS
* The close form in which the words are melded together such as cupcake, keyboard, jellyfish;
* The hyphenated form, such as daughter-in-law, master-at-arms, six-pack;
*The open form, such as post office, real estate, middle class, full moon and half sister.
ABOUT THE COMPOUND WORD COLORING WORKSHEETS
On the upper part of each pages has the two words with their corresponding pictures that combined together to make a new word (compound word). The compound word picture is found on the middle part of the pages. It is very obvious because the size of the picture is bigger than the two other pictures on the page. We also added frames to give stress for the compound word picture. At the bottom part, your young learners could also enjoy coloring each letters of the specific compound word.
Tips: *Select and print the compound coloring pages that you will need for the lesson.
* Give each student a copy.
* Explain the directions before doing the activity.
* Show them a sample of the finished work for them to get an idea.
This set of worksheets are for assessment, review and literacy center activities. This is great for Kindergarten or first grade students.
These worksheets may also be used with students in special education to help build foundation reading and coloring skills.
