2-DIGIT ADDITION WITH AND WITHOUT REGROUPING

SAMPLE FLASHCARDS ARE BELOW

To add two-digit numbers together, the student begins in the furthermost right column and moves leftward. If the first column investigated adds up to 10 or more, they regroup to create a 10 and move it into the next column.

Two-digit problem - It has two sets of numbers that are each made of two numbers (23 + 24).
WE MADE 60 2-DIGIT FLASHCARDS WITHOUT REGROUPING DESIGNED FOR YOUR STUDENTS LEARNING THE PROCESS OF SOLVING 2-DIGIT ADDITION WITHOUT REGROUPING.

HOW TO ADD 2 DIGIT NUMBERS WITHOUT REGROUPING?
*Re-write the problem vertically
*Keep the numbers lined up
*Add the right side first
*Add the left side next
*Write the answer directly below the numbers and below the line.
NOTE: You add two digit numbers without regrouping the same way you add single digit numbers.

Example: 23 + 24 = 47
To solve a two-digit problem, you should follow some simple steps. First, you should rewrite the problem so it is a vertical problem. Line the numbers up, and then place a line under the numbers. The line tells us where to write the answer after we add. Go ahead and write in an addition sign on the left side of the problem, so we remember that we are adding.

Now we can see that the top two numbers are right on top of the bottom two numbers. Always keep those two numbers lined up, so you get the right answer when you add them together.

As you can see here, this creates columns of numbers. The left side column has 3 and 4 in it, and the right side column has 2 and 2 in it. When you can see these columns, then you know that you have the numbers lined up the right way.

Start with the blue column on the right, and add those two numbers the same way you would add any addition problem: 3 + 4 = 7. Write the answer below the numbers, keeping it in the same column.

Now, let's add the numbers on the left: 2 + 2 = 4. When we write this below the line and keep it in the same column, (blue), we see that the answer to the whole problem is 47.
WE MADE 60 2-DIGIT FLASHCARDS WITH REGROUPING DESIGNED FOR YOUR STUDENTS LEARNING THE PROCESS OF SOLVING 2-DIGIT ADDITION WITH REGROUPING.

HOW TO ADD 2 DIGIT NUMBERS WITH REGROUPING?
REGROUPING - Is the process of carrying over values in excess of ten from one place value to another and is necessary whenever a group of ten or more is made.
Example: 29 + 26 = 55
If we add the numbers in the ones place, our number sentence is 9 + 6 = 15, which give us a group of ten: 10 + 5. And since the number 15 is more than ten, we would need to regroup ( remember: ten or more, add it next door). The 5 would stay in the ones place and we would regroup or carry over our 1 ten to the tens place. Next, you would add the numbers in the tens place 2 + 2 + 4 plus the 1 we carried over from the ones place equals 5. So the answer is 5 tens and 5 ones.
